After days of grey skies and rain, the sun is finally shining again. Perfect! We take our camera, put the first item on a table and... we realize that something is lacking. Thus begins our search for that “special something” that will make our creations unique and stand out amongst others in the large ocean of Etsy.
Without a doubt light is important and natural light is obviously the best choice, but that is not enough. We need backgrounds that distinguish our items, preferably clear, with some touches of colour that are not too strong. Thus begins a strange treasure hunt thoughout the house! What can we use? Everything! There are no limits to our imagination or creativity, all the time, keeping in mind good taste.
Let’s take a look around:
Kitchen: elegant or whimsical cups full of colours, a damask table cloth, cushions on the chairs, the marble countertop, wooden shelves with a faux ivy branch dripping down the side, a white plate, the coffee-pot and granny's teapot.
Bathroom: a wet soap full of bubbles, a soft towel, natural and synthetic sponges.
Bedroom: a flowered blanket, the hanger inside the wardrobe, that beautiful velvet scarf, the lamp on the bedside table.
Living room: crystal glasses, a ceramic bowl, flowers in a vase, a doily, curtains.
And then: seasonal wrapping paper, decoupage sheets, an open book, a carpet of fake moss or grass, real or faux flower petals, shells, pebbles, a forgotten guitar in the corner, a branch, pine cones, fresh fruit, coloured sand, a child's drawing, buttons, raffia, semiprecious stones, a stuffed animal, a Chinese lantern, a watercolour picture, a decorated box, the household pet.
Now all that remains is to place these treasuries on a well lit table and then position or hang our works near it.
The game is over, but perhaps it may be that we haven’t found anything suitable to use to our satisfaction. So, a walk to a flea market, along the beach or in the woods might resolve the problem. If we haven't got such places near home, don't panic! A supermarket or a department store will be perfect to find boxes of faux petals, jars of sand, bags of pebbles, or chipped cups.
A caccia di sfondi
Dopo giorni di cielo grigio e pioggia finalmente il sole torna a splendere. Ottimo! Ci armiamo di macchina fotografica, sistemiamo il primo oggetto su un piano e... ci accorgiamo che manca qualcosa. Inizia così la ricerca di quel "qualcosa" che possa rendere speciali le nostre foto, che faccia spiccare le nostre creazioni e le faccia emergere nel mare magnum di Etsy
Senza dubbio la luce conta molto e quella naturale è la migliore, ma non basta. Servono sfondi che esaltino gli oggetti, preferibilmente chiari, con qualche tocco di colore che non sia troppo invasivo. Inizia così una strana caccia al tesoro nelle varie stanze della casa. Cosa possiamo usare? Bè, tutto! Nessun limite alla fantasia e alla creatività, senza dimenticare il buon gusto.
Diamo un'occhiata:
Cucina: tazzine eleganti o spiritose tazzone colorate, la tovaglia damascata, i cuscini sulle sedie, il ripiano di marmo, le mensole in legno con quel ramo di edera finta che scende di lato, un piatto bianco, la caffettiera e la teiera della nonna.
Bagno: la saponetta bagnata e piena di bolle, un morbido asciugamano, la spugna naturale, la spugna sintetica.
Camera da letto: la coperta fiorita, la stampella appesa all'armadio, la sciarpa di velluto, la lampada sul comodino.
Salotto: i bicchieri di cristallo, la ciotola in ceramica, i fiori nel vaso, il centrino, le tende.
E ancora: carte da regalo a tema, carte da decoupage, un libro aperto, un tappeto di finto muschio o finta erba, petali veri o finti, conchiglie, sassi, la chitarra dimenticata in un angolo, un ramo secco, pigne, frutta fresca, sabbia colorata, il disegno del bimbo, bottoni, raffia, pietre semipreziose, un peluche, una lanterna orientale, un quadro dalle tinte pastello, una scatola decorata, il gatto di casa.
Non resta che sistemare uno o più di questi tesori su un piano in modo che siano ben illuminati e poggiare sopra o accanto la nostra creazione o magari appenderla.
Il gioco è fatto, ma se dentro casa non avessimo nulla che ci soddisfi? Una passeggiata tra i banchi dei mercatini dell'usato, nel bosco o in riva al mare risolverà il problema e se non abbiamo mercartini vicino casa o abitiamo in città si può sempre ripiegare sui grandi magazzini o centri commerciali, sarà meno divertente e rilassante, ma per pochi euro potremmo acquistare intere scatole di petali finti, barattoli di sabbia, sacchetti di sassi, tazzine sbeccate.
